Zdravko Blažeković

Zdravko Blažeković is executive editor of the Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM) and director of the Research Center for Music Iconography at the CUNY Graduate Center. In 1998 he founded a journal for music iconography, Music in Art, which he has been editing since. He is also chair of the ICTM Study Group on Iconography of the Performing Arts. He received his PhD from the CUNY Graduate Center in 1997 with a dissertation on music symbolism in late medieval South Italian astrological maps. His research areas concern eighteenth- and nineteenth-century music of Southeast and Central Europe, music iconography, organology, historiography of music, reception of Greek and Roman organology in modern times, musical contacts between Europe and China before 1800, and music symbolism in medieval and Renaissance astrology.
