Daniel F. Castro Pantoja

Daniel F. Castro Pantoja is assistant professor of musicology at Emory University (Atlanta, US). He is a specialist in Latin American music with research interests that extend into populism studies and global music history. He was co-chair of the AMS Global Music History Study Group (2021–25). His work has been published in the Journal of the American Musicological Society, Journal of Musicology, Journal of Music History Pedagogy, Latin American Research Review, TRANS-Transcultural Music Review, Latin American Music Review, and Americas: A Hemispheric Music Journal. His current book project explores how populism and embarrassment shaped musical practices in 1930s Colombia.
